Feminist Revolution, a publication printed by the Women's Liberation Organization Redstockings
|
In 1969, New York Magazine assigned Steinem to cover a speak-out event where 12 women from the Women’s Liberation organization Redstockings testified about their abortions. As Steinem listened to the women movingly relating tales of illicit, back-room ends to unwanted pregnancies - Steinem, who had had an abortion herself - suddenly felt as though a “great blinding light bulb” had just been turned on. In that instant, what she would soon come to call a “click” moment, she knew she was a feminist.
